Monteverdi Master Chorale... A Brief History

Presenting music that stirs the heart and soothes the soul, for 25 Seasons
. . . . . .

Organized in the fall of 1986, the Monteverdi Master Chorale is entering their 22nd concert season.  The Monteverdi Chorale first rehearsed in January 1987 and performed their first concert that spring.  The Chorale was named for Claudio Monteverdi, a famous Italian composer whose chorale compositions bridged the Renaissance and the Baroque period (1567-1643).

The Monteverdi Master Chorale is a professional-level auditioned ensemble of sixty singers who hail from Portage, Marathon and Wood Counties.  Most members have extensive choral performance experience and many have vocal training.  The Chorale presents three concert series each season, a traditional family Christmas concert in December, a spring concert in April and a fund-raising “Pops Concert” with Dinner in May.  These seasonal performances have become a well-established tradition in Central Wisconsin.

In addition to their regularly-scheduled local concerts, Monteverdi regularly participates in the Prepare Ye concert with Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers in November and at other regional events by invitation.  Monteverdi has also been fortunate to tour internationally on several occasions.

Auditions are usually held in August and early January of each year.  Interested parties should submit an audition request well in advance so they can be alerted as to audition dates/times/locations.
